This is typically caused because you haven't identified your site in the ecommerce site which is necessary for automatically creating/identifying your products. You'll need to ensure that your settings under "System Settings > Ecommerce Module" have the website set to the website you're displaying the widget on....which let's us know that the request to create/update the product association with the question is coming from a valid source.
