We've had customers ask us how many Q&A's to show per product and category page....do they show 10? Do they show 3? Another number?
Well...the answer is, stop thinking about SEO. Think about your customer on the page and what would be best for them. You shouldn't be publishing information that isn't helpful and going to lead them to the right product that fulfills their needs. And if they haven't found that yet and purchased....do you really want to limit their ability to do that well because you think 3 Q&A pairs aesthetically looks better than 10? Think about the customer, and ensure you're publishing content that is actually helpful to them.
By default, Answerbase sorts the Q&A's over time based on actual popularity (as we collect the engagement/search data), so keep that in mind regardless of how much you show. But....Google's going to recognize the content as valuable if you recognize it as valuable to the purchaser through how you display it (you should only be publishing content that is valuable to a real purchaser and really helpful to them in their purchasing journey). So you shouldn't just be publishing things for SEO....it needs to be valuable to a visitor to the page....but if it's valuable content and worth reading....seems like more than 3 makes sense where people would be happy with seeing more useful content and Google will also recognize it as valuable through that as well. If it's good content that is actually informing the purchase and leading to valuable products within the inventory within that interesting/helpful content, why wouldn't you want to read more of it if you haven't already been lead to a good product fit higher up on the page? If you're serious about buying and making a good decision, the content should help lead you to that.
Now...there does come a point where it doesn't make sense to show SO many (for example, as you grow your helpful content it may turn into 50+ valuable Q&A pairs over time)....which is why we have the "View All" option or ability to page through results....so it does give the user options to see all of the useful content you have related to the category. We think 5-10 makes sense...and 5 is perfectly reasonable I think if you wanted to reduce it down for personal preference aesthetic reasons.
