Answerbase enables you to prioritize the products that are most valuable to your ecommerce site, so we can ensure those products are optimized for both conversion and SEO. When considering what products to prioritize on your site, consider the following:
Merchants can target specific products, brands, or categories by going into "System Settings > SEO" and you'll see a tab for "Product Targets" as shown here:
You can select individual products, categories (or collections if you're using Shopify) or brands and based on what you select that is how Answerbase will prioritize what products it puts in your product-by-product optimization work flow. Our goal will be to ensure you can ensure that the full customer demand for information related to your targeted products is complete, to ensure that your visitors can confirm a match and convert to a sale and you can best enhance the page for SEO in order to provide lift for your short-tail key phrases relevant for that product.
Default Targeting Settings
When Answerbase is considering which products to prioritize by default, it looks at your settings and other data in order to determine prioritization. The targets are determined in the following manner:
- PPC Spend: You may want to prioritize the products that you're spending the most money on with PPC so you can help ensure that those products have all of the relevant product information that customers want when considering a purchase, so you can optimize the content on that page. This also will help you enhance that product for SEO, so you can start to increase your organic positions for that product, get more organic traffic to those product pages, and decrease your customer acquisition costs as you get more sales through organic searches vs PPC.
- Highest Margin Products: You may want to prioritize your products where you have the highest margins, so you can improve the conversion and SEO for those products in an effort to increase the amount of sales for your highest margin products.
- Strategic Product Targets: Answerbase has had ecommerce merchants prioritize product optimization targets based on partnership relationships that they were looking to establish or enhance, as they look to increase conversions and SEO for specific brands. Answerbase gives you the ability to target not only specific products but also categories and brands.

Default Targeting Settings
When Answerbase is considering which products to prioritize by default, it looks at your settings and other data in order to determine prioritization. The targets are determined in the following manner:
- Target Products: As communicated above, if the merchant defines any specific targets with products, categories (or collections), or brands it will prioritize these to see what optimizations we can recommend based on those and ensure that those are taken care of before we consider putting any other products in the workflow.
- Conversions: You should have Answerbase's Conversion Tracking Script installed so we can understand which of your pages are leading to the most conversions. If you have that script installed, Answerbase will prioritize your content creation recommendations by the pages that lead to the most conversions.
- Page Visits: You should have Answerbase's Q&A Widget added to your pages and through that we can understand which of your pages are getting the most visitors. If you have that script installed, Answerbase will prioritize your content creation recommendations by the pages that have the most visitors.
- Google Search Engagement: Answerbase will see what products are getting the most engagement through Google organic search in order to improve their positions in results, and Answerbase will prioritize feeding those products into the workflow so the merchant can optimize those products for SEO and conversion.
- Google Search Demand: Answerbase will see what products are getting the most exposure and impressions on Google that show the highest opportunity to drive volume traffic to the site if the merchant is able to improve their positions in results, and Answerbase will prioritize feeding those products into the work flow so the merchant can optimize those products for SEO and conversion.
- Recently Created Products: Answerbase will look at the most recently created products and look to ensure that those new products are getting off on the right foot so they are optimized for both conversion and SEO. This helps ensure that those products are set up for success as you work to expose them in your categories, navigation, and PPC campaigns.
