As you create helpful Q&A content on your site and appropriate publish and distribute it, it's eligible to rank in a number of different types of SERP results. So...you can rank for discussions and forums through Q&A content....even if you only have one answer posted. We hear quite a bit about "Reddit Marketing" as brands look to be within these types of results...which is fine, but as a first step...just make sure that you have your own Q&A "Answerbase" because you can get the rankings without bowing to the "Reddit Moderator gods"...see this example:

Google isn't "rewarding Reddit" with anything special here....Reddit is just a very property with a concentrated example type of content that Google is steering towards and has the volume of content that you see "Reddit" displayed prominently...but it's not about Reddit. So you can have your own knowledge base that outperforms Reddit, just make sure that you're publishing content that is actually satisfying real people's requests for information...and make sure that your answers are the best out there based on real experience.
People Also Asked Questions
We see this pop up in Google's "People Also Asked" section as well, you can see an example below where an Answerbase customer is referenced twice in the same search in the PAA area:

That is a ton of visibility of your pages and content within results.....if you provide the great content that people actually want, Google will reward it. If you're providing more than one piece of specific information that further helps the searcher on the sam topic....Google will display it. This helps searchers find answers to similar or related queries quickly and easily....and it doesn't care whether you've already been referenced....it's goal is to satisfy the search intent of the visitor.
Featured Snippets
Featured snippets are the handy bits of text you see right at the top of Google search results, often called 'Position 0.' They give you a quick, straight-to-the-point answer to your question. You'll usually find these snippets when you ask Google for information on a particular topic.

SERP Thumbnail
Sometimes Google shows those featured snippets with images. A SERP thumbnail is a helpful image that might show up in Google's search engine results page (SERP) alongside other search results. Google includes these thumbnails when it thinks they could be useful for you.

How Q&A Content Has Been Exploding in Organic Search Results
See the activity below of what happened with a broad range of Answerbase customers that Ahrefs reports back on and how they performed as Google incorporated the Helpful Content System into it's core ranking systems during the Google March 2024 core updates.

See a chart from Google Search Console of an SMB Ecommerce merchant's overall traffic over the last 16 months (taken on June 5th). Keep in mind that this merchant is seasonal with peaks in the summer and dips in the winter, but you'll see the overall traffic when you compare year-over-year (YOY) the impressions and clicks have almost doubled.
